In tribute to all the people who, like me, enjoyed the arrival of this fruit I share this recipe.

A nutritious way to start the day

This smoothie is a source of vitamins A, C and E which help you improve your immune system and provide antioxidants, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium and other nutrients. As you can see, it is very complete.

It also gives you energy and protein which makes it perfect to start the day or to take after training.

Ingredients

These quantities are intended for 2 people.

  • 2 cups cherries
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 1 tablespoon of hemp vegetable protein powder
  • 1 glass of almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons ground almonds

The recipe for this cherry smoothie is very simple

  1. Pit the cherries

    Removing the stone from the cherries is an easy process but it takes time.

  2. Put all the ingredients in the blender

    Blend for 1 minute

  3. Enjoy your smoothie

    Drink it in peace, enjoying every sip.

Recommendations

The bananas should be frozen before use. If they are not frozen, cut them up and put them in the freezer for at least 2 hours, so they can give the smoothie more consistency.

When using vegetable protein, I prefer hemp protein, since it is a more difficult food to introduce into your diet. You can also use rice or pea protein.

One of my happiest days of the year is when I start to see poppies by the side of the road. That simple detail reminds me that spring is here to stay. You start to use more vivid colours in your clothes, the days lengthen and you feel like spending more time outdoors.

Trees begin to awaken, flowers colour the landscape and a world of fruit makes its way. It is time to eat what we have been missing for months.

Another of my happiest days of the year is when I go to the greengrocer and, embedded in my thoughts, on my shopping list, in my chores … I find cherries, those addictive little fruits that you can’t stop eating!

If it is not too hot yet, you can put the bananas in without freezing, although this is what gives it the texture. Remember that the more mature they are, the sweeter your smoothie will taste.

If you don’t have much time, you can pit the cherries at some other time and store them in the fridge or freeze them. You can use the straw trick, which involves pushing a straw through and forcing the stone out of the other end.

Don’t forget that you can change or substitute the ingredients as you wish.
